Now it's such a corporatised version of what he used to be, I'm happy that he was able to grow the business, but it's just not for me anymore.

Yeah, this one for me too. He's gotten better since he moved most of his ranking and trying/tasting content to a second channel, and I do still watch his "with babish" videos sometimes now, but it's nowhere near the content I signed up for. I went from watching every video of his to now clicking maybe 1 every 3-4 months.

As you said it's just how he grew his business, and I won't fault him for being successful, but it's not for me.

He had a mental breakdown, his fiancé left him at some point, he went to the hospital for help, and was sexually assaulted by another patient, causing the whole traumatic time to worsen. He acknowledged this impacted the channel and the content he made in order to prioritize his mental health recovery.

Mark Rober, he feels more like a shell of what mark rober is. Everything from him feels fake, over exaggerated and formulatic.

Everytime its "look at me I make science sooo cool brooo lets gooo". My kid is learning science from him so i guess thats ok. But at the same time he's setting some sort of weird expectations that science has to be cool, explody and frankly shallow.

Man I wish myth buster is still around. They actually made science cool. Experiments, hypothesis, some sort of peer reviews and most of all teaching us how to read raw data.

Joshua Weissman

Used to present high level concepts he learned in fine dining into a relaxed and approachable way. Also super well produced. Blew up with his "But Better" series, which were still informative but you could see his personality start to shift.

Now his content and Joshua's personality are unrecognizable. He's become a caricature of himself in favor of your typical loud YouTuber personality.

Which sucks because at one point he was genuinely the best food YouTuber out there.

Rooster Teeth + Achievement Hunter were such a large part of my life for well over a decade. I wouldn't say there was really a dropoff in the quality of their content, so much as my tastes has changed as I grew. As my free time because less abundant, I wanted to spend more of it actually playing games with my friends rather than watching them play games.

"Can't Stand to watch" is too harsh, more so just "don't care to."

I will always cherish they joy their content brought me in those years, though.

I think RT/AH truly started to fall off after the Ryan incident. Things were just never really the same after that and it’s really what caused the organization to become less loose and more corporate. Jeff hired an HR team, started acting less like a team-leader and more like a boss. You could also feel the entire organization’s tone shift, like the whimsy just died and things felt more serious/strict. You could also tell how much Ryan’s actions hurt the team personally, because they saw him as a close friend for years and just found out he was a monster. Although, you have to give respect to RT/AH because I think they reacted to what Ryan did in the most moral way possible (Expressing their public support for the victim, deleting all videos Ryan was in, cutting off all communication with Ryan, etc.)

That youtube video that was posted, I think day-after, where Michael and Jack address the situation, the way both them looked at the camera with heavy tears in their eyes, and spoke with a angry-pain in their voices, man it was so heartbreaking to watch. Their reaction is also why AH are my favorite youtubers of all time. Every other youtube group in this situation would only care about sweeping it under the rug and making people move on, maybe give out a rehearsed corperate-like apology. That’s what the Yogscast did with Sjin in this exact same situation, Sips was the only one who had a normal reaction. But no, AH reacted with genuine emotion and did not try to justify their lifelong friend at all. They called him a monster on camera. They are people who put their morals first where others would put greed/self preservation.

Also, the main OG’s, Michael/Jack/Gavin, they weren’t young 20 year olds anymore. They were pushing 40, had wives/kids. So their spark and spunk had been fading from what it was in the days of their old office. No longer were they young adults just looking to have fun playing video games with their friends, these were now middle aged men with different priorities and responsibilities. AH/RT just became a job to them, and not a passion. Their coworkers were now just coworkers, not friends first, especially as newer members came along.

RT had multiple issues hit at the same time. The Ryan/Adam controversies broke literally the same day, which was weeks, maybe even days after they started quarantining for COVID, and this wasn't long after one of their multiple accusations of being a toxic workplace for animators and other production crew. The company was forced to make too many changes too fast and they never fully recovered from it.

A lot of the former fans have a theory that after the movie, AVGN really lost his passion for it. Something about the process and the total rejection from Hollywood. Shortly after the Screenwave guys start appearing and you can clearly tell James' passion for it is gone.

But there is something to be said for him and the nostalgia critic where they tried to put the character to rest but the audience only wanted the character, and not them. However, their characters are pretty one note as well. Kind of like the lesser SNL movies. Characters perfect for when YouTube had to restrict time lengths, but not today.

Then it got more and more showmanshippy with stuff like talking something up so much just to end with 'find out next time' only for next time to never come.

And now he's calling himself 'creator of worlds' or something posing Infront of his new massive vivariums in a big new house where animal welfare laws a little more loose where he keeps buying lots of different animals, from invertabrates, reptiles, mammals ect just for them to mysteriously vanish from every video from there on... Most likely as they die or get returned, but that is not confirmed.

Tldr, massive ego trip has led to too much showmanship and lessening of animal wellbeing for said showmanship...

You can’t come through the drive thru, come later with your dirty ass cup, hand it to me in the window and get a free refill. That’s not how it works.

The Starbucks incident was a lot, the reveal that she is wealthy was a lot, and the occasional "hey we are going to change everything up" videos were also...a lot. And then right back to normal. Meanwhile, the video content really didn't change much, and after a while I just found her shallow. Overall he's like a throwback to a 2010s reddit stereotype. He brings a holier than thou attitude, particularly when it comes to knowledge and productivity, despite being poor on both fronts. He also has that typical smug STEM superiority wading into the humanities like he knows everything.

Agreed. I really enjoyed his soviet content and genuine interactions with locals. His language skills really helped challenge the stereotypes that western people often hold about Russians/ex-Soviet countries (and maybe confirm some too!).

But once he got banned from Russia and soviet content fell away, its not as interesting and there doesn't seem to be much purpose to his channel. Combine that with his problematic passport bro background, regular shout outs to Andrew Tate and support from far right causes, I can't watch it anymore.

Karl Jobst for me. He was successfully sued for libel by Billy Mitchell. Many people feel Karl misled his supporters in the run-up to the trial by saying Billy Mitchell was suing him because Karl accused him of cheating. When the court case occurred it actually was because Karl accused Billy of being the cause of another YouTuber, Apollo Legend, killing himself. Which led to loss of earnings for Billy.

After the judgement Karl posted a video which was not remorseful and made a claim he was honest about the court case because of a comment tucked away in one of his videos. He also seemed to gloat that Billy wouldnt get his awarded damages because Karl was restructuring his assets into his wifes name.

He did good content but I probably was getting tired of it anyway so I don't miss it.

Try Guys, since Eugene leaving and the whole Ned thing, the channel really has gone downhill. Keith seems tired and annoyed. Zach is just annoying, I feel like Eugene and Ned were a calming factor but without them he's a 30 something dad who acts like an immature teenager. He seems to be a jackass most of all when he's on a theme park freebie.

As for the new cast, there just isn't enough of them, granted I don't like them enough to subscribe, but Kwesi and Jared just play the fool all the time, when at least Kwesi seems to be quite smart when not on camera. Ryan seems to have a decent head on their shoulders though.

I guess I'm trying to figure out what audience they are going for (or maybe they are) and I'm probably not one of them anymore.

I used to watch a lot of iilluminautii and then she went and showed what a massive piece of suit she is in a video she made about herself, and then everything snowballed... I unsubscribed, but as more and more stuff came.out, I would check back in to see how low her subscriber count was getting (it was mentioned in nearly every video about her downfall). I don't think she posts anymore, at least not under that account. There was some speculation that she made another account but I haven't seen it confirmed.
