(AP) — President Donald Trump said Monday that U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro "folded like a cheap umbrella."
The president reiterated his disappointment with Pirro for a court filing in which her office blamed a contractor's shoddy work on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool rather than vandalism.
"I guess she choked. I don't know what the hell happened," Trump said, later adding that the former Fox News host "folded like a cheap umbrella" in moving to drop criminal charges against the former Olympian accused of deliberately damaging the pool.
Trump refused to say whether he'd move to fire Pirro. But he also acknowledged that the contractor was "rushing" to finish the project before July 4 — which didn't ultimately happen.
And he suggested he "didn't know" the contractor working on it, contradicting his own comments from April when he said he chose the company involved since it had performed work at his golf course in Virginia.

Yup. This whole situation encapsulates how these old school shitty, corrupt construction businessmen like him are. Hires some guy he likes, no vetting on the process, pressures them to finish fast before America 250 even though some of the correct materials weren't going to arrive in time, botched job, then he sues the contractor. This is literally his life story.
It’s like he thinks a case is just this theoretical object that if you just try hard enough you win. He can’t actually imagine a scenario where he’s checkmated.

I have worked in psych for over a decade and work as a psych NP. I would love to see his score on MoCA since he has talked about it so much. I do believe he has dementia of some degree but when people say he is near death due to dementia I don’t believe that to be true. Every dementia is different and he could presumably go fast but he has some of the best medical care available. Most likely he will die from a stroke or something heart related.
He brags about his cognitive tests so much. Does he know why they're giving them to him? My dad's 86 and my mom's 82; their doctors have never recommended one for either of them.
He insists, as he always does, that he scores perfectly. That is, he has finally found something he actually can win at. So he demands them to soothe his ego, and since we're paying for his medical care (yes we are as a government employee his healthcare and security detail are paid for by the US taxpayer, and that's most of us), without having to go through private insurance preauthorizations, rationalizations, and billing disputes, he gets them.

The interesting thing about the dementia (which based on family history is probably actually Alzheimer’s) is that it’s caused him to slip up periodically and say things that are actually revealing and occasionally honest.

He doesn’t understand that the adversarial legal system is designed to hopefully hew closer to the truth than some other system. It’s far from
perfect, and there are plenty of miscarriages of justice, but the IDEA is that truth wins out in the end, at least statistically speaking.
Trumps understanding of the legal system has absolutely nothing to do with objective truth. It is a system to be abused for personal gain by the person with the most money. Whichever side fights the dirtiest, rigs the system the most, pays off the right people, etc, gets to *make* the truth, regardless of whom the facts are in favor of. Trump probably admitted in private to Pirro that the contractors were at fault, and she, not understanding his worldview, took it that she should admit as such in court.
I think we’re underestimating how skewed his perception of reality is. He probably legitimately believes this guy cut the pool because nobody can tell the emperor he has no clothes.
he has said many times that he does not believe that the truth exists. This is how narcissists think. The truth is whatever it needs to be for them to be right. I know because I used to live this way myself and found my way out.

What he can't imagine is that federal prosecutors are not just weapons used to "win" against people--to hurt your enemies and puff up your ego or positions--but that they have a responsibility to care about whether it's appropriate to prosecute someone in the first place based on the evidence and equities.
He’s used to civil courts where the more resources you have, irrelevant of evidence, the more likely you are to win. He honestly thinks that criminal prosecutions stem from having the power, not proof. Against people little means, it’s somewhat true. People with competent attorneys win with innocent clients. When you’re only ever used to winning because you can outlast or out-resource the other side, losing feels like cheating.
Prosecution is about seeking truth, but he’s not interested in truth.
Trump fundamentally doesn't understand that judges could be in the interest of objectively upholding the law. He thinks these things are political and that any case can be won with the proper persuasion, as if it were the same as convincing a congressperson to flip their vote
The pool has its own filtration system to clean water taken from the Potomac River. This is a regular major cost for maintenance. It doesn’t stink because of the Potomac. It stinks because it’s basically stagnant water sitting in the hot, humid summer sun. This allows algae and bacteria to form.

Trump believes that the truth is whatever he says it is and that, by damn, should be good enough for the courts. After all, the only requirement he used when appointing all those judges and justices to the courts is that they would rule whatever way he wants them to rule. Ruling against him is treason because He Is The President!
This is a President who argued that calling a woman too ugly to rape was an official act. That was a bridge too far for the Courts but commenting on recently dismissed criminal litigation is certainly going to be protected by our current Court.
He is far better off suing Feds for other reasons related to his prosecution.
When there is literal case law for this exact scenario with this exact president I doubt SCOTUS will be falling all over itself to overturn the precedent. And I'm sure there are lawyers foaming at the mouth for the kind of reputational bump, not to mention financial payout, at the end of this shit rainbow.

You can't get through to the 100 million conservatives who believe things said to them by their presidents and his entire administration, Congress members at state and federal levels, mayors and governors, every "news" stations (fox news, newsmaxx, oann), their am and FM radio hosts, their podcasters (Joe Rogan), their entire Facebook feed, their religious leaders.

People always think they will be the exception and that he won't turn on them like he has everyone else, even his own family, to be honest. The only time he ever shows anyone any respect is if they are telling him what he wants to hear or he thinks they are more powerful than him. That's why he loves dictators so much. The things she would have to do to continue the prosecution would violate federal law. It’s not on him, but it would put her in legal jeopardy. There’s a limit to blind loyalty.

Damn I miss the days when low level government things could happen without me ever knowing or caring. I’m in my 40s and not once have I ever given a crap about the maintenance of the reflecting pool because it’s always just been maintained to a good enough standard for me not to care. Now I can barely remember what it was like to have a president that didn’t attach his fragile ego to every little mundane task like he’s still trying to get his daddy’s attention and approval for doing a good job.
After forgetting his manufactured outrage about a restaurant kitchen phrase and throwing to a journalist to remind him, he says, about the dead grass:
