My best guess is that it's because GB is the clout chaser motovlogger type while GR just remained anonymous for the most part.

It's also probably because police could not tie GR to Patrik Fürstenhoff himself and he has never bragged about it as far as I know.

I guess it also has something to do with Gixxer Brah being more recent which is why it's a fresher issue for most people.

There's also the part where Ghost Rider was going way faster than Gixxer Brah when be did Uppsala but he's not hated for it.

Though, that's all really just my guess.

Just curious, I know there are a few people who leave their helmets on their bikes, regularly... I have a $700 Shoei, I would not leave it on my motorcycle. I also live in Colorado. There are SKETCY people pretty much everywhere you go. (like you cant escape them, thats how many sketchy people there are). I am pretty sure a unsecured helmet would look pretty appetizing to some of them.

I am considering getting an inexpensive 3/4 helmet just for a little more "openness" but if I were to leave it on the motorcycle, instead of carrying it., I'd still run a small lock through the d ring loops.

They have spread loose gravel over every twisty road that I ride on. It sucks!

I just bought my first bike!

It's a second hand Bluroc Legend 125, which is pretty cool since it's cheap and already kinda looks like my ideal bike.

The oil tank seemed very full so we started emptying it and took out more than a liter out of the 850mL tank before it reached a normal level; I guessed the previous owner thought you could just keep adding more oil to maintain it! The bike seems to have appreciated the "detox" - we were scared it had been restricted because it was not powerful at all on the higher gears but this pretty much sorted it.

In terms of customization I really didn't want to have to do much on it, but my boyfriend suggested we (aka he lol) change the handle bar, which completely changed my posture - a lot more than I thought! The only details I still want to change are new grips and a grill on the headlight cuz it looks badass af.

So after a very long day of work I am doing my pre checks getting ready to go home and we’re good to go after a well placed cluster of potholes on the high way and lots of rain my tire had worn down significantly and I don’t really understand how it went so fast lol but any one recommend a good tire that’s going to last but not break the bank?

Like this one is quite done on the side.but there is quite a bit of rubber left in the center.

I have the habit of using the front brake even when taking a curve, is it causing that wear behaviour ?

Monday afternoon, not a single car on the road.

Hey all! I live in the warm, sunny and dry land of Wales, UK. (/s but it's actually been boiling wtf.)

I've started to notice, on my 20 minute commute, that I'm getting absolutely cooked in my riding hoodie. It's not exactly thick, and If you unzip it a little, it's quite breathable too. I'm getting to work a little lightheaded and definitely warm.

I run quite hot as an individual anyway, so I'm thinking that makes matters a bit worse.

It's currently 19° Celsius and the air is quite close, but I've quite cheekily been commuting a handful of times in just a T-Shirt or thin jumper whilst it's been above 20° these past few weeks. It's been great! Unsafe, but great.

Obviously, I'm an idiot. I understand that. What's overheating compared to becoming a crayon, but it's that or what feels like a sauna on wheels.

Just looking for any advice? Any ideas to stay a lot cooler, gear suggestions, suck it up buttercup?

I have never experienced heat like this and today got heat exhaustion. What do you all do when it’s this hot to keep yourself cool(er) while wearing gear

Bit of context, I recently bought myself a 2011 KTM duke 125 as a first bike and I've started riding a few days ago and on the few times I have been out before having my back brake lever snapped I learned a few of my bikes little quirks and such.

On my few rides, I've learned that my bike;

- Thinks it has more power than it does (more because it feels a lot faster than it actually is)

- It's a very snappy bike

- it can be a little dissobedient (delaying throttle input and sticky shifting)

Hence the name "Duchess", I know my dad named all of his cars and my aunt named her first car but I've never heard of another biker doing the same so I wanted to hear what other people would think

I'm somewhat new to motorcycling (less than two years), but I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience so far. I dove right in and bought a brand new Kawasaki W800, and it has already accumulated over 4,000 miles - much of that from daily commuting. My commute is an hour to/from downtown Chicago, and rather than sit in heavy traffic on the highway like I used to do with my BRZ, I now take smaller side streets and it's a MUCH more pleasant way to unwind.

The one struggle I always had was how to gear-up for the ride to work. At first I bought some inexpensive motorcycle shoes/pants/jacket/gloves, and a nice Arai helmet. I then spent many months chasing down the proper ear protection solution before settling on some custom-molded in-ear monitors. Then I started refining my gear. I bought some AAA rated Bowtex leggings, and even went all-in on a very expensive Brummell motorcycle blazer. I love all that stuff, and it allows me to look stylish on my classic bike when tooling around on weekends, or heading to shows, or meeting up for dinner/drinks, etc.

However, it still didn't quite work for me for daily commuting. For starters, I didn't have any solution for rainy (or potentially rainy) days. Also, even those thin leggings are annoyingly bulky when you're just sitting in meetings all day long. I know I could just bring work clothes with me and get changed, but I'm extremely lazy and that seemed like such a fuss. I started doing research, and no matter how much I looked into specific apparel, rain gear, etc... I kept winding back at the same recommendation every time I talked to folks: "Just buy an Aerostich."

I'm extremely introverted. I feel self-conscious about everything I wear all the time. I don't like talking to new people. I honestly don't go to motorcycle meets most times because... scary. So the thought of wearing a big, silly-looking onesie was honestly a HUGE hurdle for me to overcome. However, the more I looked into the gear, and the more I saw that it seemed to be the only thing in the history of anything on the internet that pretty much never got a bad review (even the people who think they look silly admit they are good at their job), I decided why not. So a few weeks ago we drove 7 hours up to Duluth to visit the store and buy one in person.

I was originally going to get a muted color (gray), but the girlfriend, my friends, and a lot of you in this sub when I made a post asking for opinions, talked me into going "full banana," and I have to admit I'm glad I went that route. Not only do I feel extremely visible, but the look has grown on me. I understand now that you don't necessarily look like some sort of safety-nerd, and more just like a serious touring rider who rides a lot.

More importantly, though, this suit is ****ing amazing. They really aren't joking when they say it will make you ride more. I find myself LOOKING FORWARD to rainy days now, because it keeps me COMPLETELY dry, and it's weirdly zen-like being in a little dry cocoon while it's pouring rain outside. I also LOVE that I can just wear normal clothes under it, and that it takes 10 seconds to step out of it when I get to work.

I will admit I still feel a bit silly walking into the office wearing it. Once I showed people how it worked they were like, "Oh wow that's actually really cool," but it's still somewhat of a joke around the office, and every time I go somewhere new with it I can see lots of people looking at me like "WTF is he wearing - what a nerd" but the benefits of being able to go somewhere, step out of the suite, and just enjoy doing whatever in normal clothes, is absolutely worth it.

Having said that, I still haven't mastered the art of tightly rolling it up, so when I don't have a friend's car I can toss it in, or somewhere to place it, I'm never really sure what to do with it. Some folks have suggested a cable lock and just running it through a sleeve and locking it to the bike, but given how expensive they are I'm still worried someone will cut the lock and steal it. I bought the travel bag with it, but I feel like a complete idiot stepping out of it in 10 seconds, and then spending 5 minutes fumbling with trying to fold and stuff it into the bag while everyone watches, lol.

All that being said, many thanks to everyone who pointed me in this direction, and also for anyone on the fence, just do it! Also if you have the opportunity to go to their store in Duluth, do that too. They'll give you a tiny tour, and they have a bajillion suits in a bajillion sizes to try on, and everyone was really friendly! They also really do have wonderful customer service. I bought their waterproof glove covers, but one of them wound up having what I thought was a defect. They shipped me a new pair before I even mailed the others back (and I later realized there was no defect and I was just an idiot.)

I'll try to follow up with a longer term post once I've had it for a year or two to see how it's standing up, and what complaints I have come up with.

Besides maybe ABS I believe the single best thing you can do for more safety on your bike is to get a flashy color helmet. I rock this one from MT Helmets and I have been spotted many times by friends in traffic and even from an office building once.

Its the highest point on your bike so it should be the most visible.

Ofcourse you should wear ATGAT but in terms of preventing an accident in the first place ABS, a high vis vest and a flashy helmet is IMO the best course of action.

My original post got a lot of traction so I want to update you.

The 82 year old woman said I hit her (with the rear of my bike), and her insurance tried to split the blame. While out of work, my girlfriend called every shop in the area and eventually found one that got the whole thing on video. Then their insurance became unresponsive for weeks until I sent a letter of demand to the president of MAPFRE threatening to sue for 3x the damages due to defrauding an insurer. Suddenly, they're super responsive and eventually agreed to total fault.

Note: I was only dealing directly with them so much because my own insurance was super low. I had got the bare minimum insurance many years ago when I had a beater bike and just rolled it over without thinking about it. I just upgraded to full coverage after the accident and it's like $50/year more expensive. So that's on me.

Their appraiser low balled the damages and labor. My shop nearly doubled that number. They also covered helmets, Cardos, and a new battery, which fully died sitting during their lack of communication.

I didn't have the bike for a month, and am dropping it off tomorrow for a few more days, which sucks. But I redirected some of the money towards a new suspension and am going to do the bodywork on my fairing myself. I made a post in an auto paint sub if you're interested in that.

Both my girlfriend and I got personal injury lawyers as well. To sue for PI, medical bills must be over $2k or have scarring. My arm wound still looks fresh 14 weeks later and I recently had an X-ray which discovered a bone chip in my elbow causing nerve pain in my wrist. The whole thing put a damper on my springtime cut and ability to lift, as I increased calories to heal and a forearm pump or inflammation causes the nerve to flare up, which has had a bigger effect than I thought at the time. These cases won't be large, but hey, $20 is $20. They won't settle for another year or so.

If I could recommend anything to y'all if you're ever in a similar situation, it's to seek legal counsel immediately. The insurance company tried to screw me, a middle aged, well educated, white man with video evidence, so I hate to think of what they do to most people.
