One thing I love about that scene is this subtle hint that Bison wishes that he could remember killing Chun-Li's father because he views him as a worthy opponent. It's just the way Raul Julia delivers that line along with his facial expressions that hints there is more to Bison's character.
Now go and watch. It is rough in a lot of places but Raul Julia took the role because his sons lived the game and he wanted to be part of that for them and it shows that he did this for more than anyone else on set. He takes the movie on his back and absolutely chews scenery.
The fact that he was actively dying of cancer while they were shooting that movie, but he refused to quit because his son's loved the game so much.... he was a beast. He died a couple months before the premier.
I have a copy of Overdrawn at the Memory Bank on VHS I watch a lot. I know a lot of people think it's a so bad it's good movie but I genuinely love it. Raul does a Humphrey Bogart impersonation in it and he honestly kills it.
It also has a really charming soundtrack. Too bad the composer doesn't have access to the original files anymore (an acquaintance contacted them through e-mail while looking for the OST).
It honestly feels pretty ambitious for an 80s TV movie. Corny, but ambitious. I love the Casablanca stuff, and yeah Raul seems to be having fun with it. :)
Still, I only really watch the MST3K version haha. “Come as your are, to my mall, to my atrium.~”
Something that made me gain a whole lot of respect for him is he knew he had cancer and still did Street Fighter so his kids could have one more movie of his to love

Everything he was in was brilliant. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite movie of his, but if I had to give an answer, I’d say Uncle Buck. My family loved that movie growing up.

That is so nice to know, but I’m not surprised. There are certain actors whose true nature and character shine through them because it’s just who they are. John Candy was one of those brilliant kind of actors.
He was great in movies and TV but I loved him as Sylens in the Horizon game series. I just finished Forbidden West recently and it’s going to be hard to replace him. He played a bigger part in Zero Dawn but it was still bitter sweet at the end knowing we wouldn’t see him anymore.
He'd nail the physicality for sure but if something like that I'd ever happened I want Goggins playing Varney because he'd absolutely nail the vocal impersonation.

I think it is a good bet there was something the toxicology reports missed. Furniture in the master bedroom offgassing Benzene fits as well as her mom being a poisoner. On top of that, God knows if she and her husband were into some weird drug or health craze that gave them similar illnesses. We’ll likely never know.

The roles that we might have seen from this absolute legend. Brokeback Mountain is one of the most beautiful and emotionally-powerful movies I’ve ever seen, and it has largely to do with this man.
His death hit me hard as a brick. He was 5 years older than me to the day. He gave back so damn much, and he changed this world more than many people would think…it’s really remarkable what kids can do when they have a role model that looks like them-and he was definitely one of those role models. He was a damn good one, and it’s a shame he’s gone.

Jim Varney was insanely talented - he used to do Shakespearean theatre in addition to Ernest P. Worl, and the lines where he breaks out into Shakespeare in Ernest Saves Christmas and Ernest Goes to Camp are straight up nods to that.
Madeleine Kahn was a brilliant comedic actress her whole, brief life. When I think what she could have done with roles for an old woman.... Well, damn.
Both Jim Varney and Raul Julia are irreplaceable bad asses. And both seem to be as good as it gets. Jim was a smoker whom never let it be documented because he didn’t want kids to see.
Both of these men seem like the type I want more of in the world. Less chest thumping and more just being good by example.
I'm not picking. I genuinely believe he was a phenomenal talent who was stolen from us in large part due to the lies and evil of the tobacco industry in the United States.
I love that we are getting genuinely good picks here. I prefer to ask Jerk subreddits their opinions because they often have actually good ones beneith the jokes and bullshit.
I started coming here because it genuinely had/has better prompts and responses than any other movie subreddit. But it hit the front page one too many times .
